The Revised Widespread Lectionary (RCL) is a three-year cycle of biblical readings utilized by many Christian denominations. The present cycle, Lectionary 2019, started on the First Sunday of Introduction in 2018 and can conclude on the Final Sunday of Pentecost in 2021. The subsequent cycle, Lectionary 2025, will start on the First Sunday of Introduction in 2024 and can conclude on the Final Sunday of Pentecost in 2027.
The RCL is designed to offer a balanced and complete studying of the Bible over the course of three years. Every year, the cycle contains readings from the Outdated Testomony, the New Testomony, and the Psalms. The readings are organized in a thematic order, so that every Sunday’s readings relate to a specific theme or subject.
